Mercure Piccadilly Closed for Refurbishment
Reopening given as early February or April 2027

The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly, in the Piccadilly Plaza development overlooking Piccadilly Gardens, closed fully on 11 October 2026 for a refurbishment. Its page on the Accor website says it is currently closed and not available for bookings.

The reopening date is not consistent across the hotel's own statements. Accor's page says hotel bedrooms will reopen in early April 2027. The Manchester Evening News reported that a statement on the hotel's own website said the whole hotel, including conference facilities, would be closed until early February 2027.

The MEN reported that the main entrance has been covered with posters for the fit-out company Ultimate Group, which it understood to be carrying out the work inside. It added that the Mercure brand's owner, Accor, had confirmed the closure on its official accounts.

The hotel opened in the 1960s as the five-star Hotel Piccadilly and has since traded as the Ramada Piccadilly and the Jarvis Piccadilly before becoming a Mercure, the MEN reported.

Last year, Venus Hotels Ltd, which has operated the Mercure at the site for more than a decade, applied to Manchester City Council to replace the Mercure brand with Lyf, a brand aimed at younger travellers. The council approved new Lyf signage for the main entrance, but the hotel has stayed a Mercure since. The MEN reported that it is not yet known whether the hotel will reopen as a Mercure or as a Lyf, and that it had asked the hotel for comment.
