Editorial Standards, Corrections & Complaints Policy

Learn how we handle complaints

Best of Manchester is committed to the highest standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and accountability. We strive to be fair, open, and transparent with our readers.

We are regulated by IMPRESS: The Independent Monitor for the Press. We adhere to the rules and ethical principles set out in the IMPRESS Standards Code, which covers accuracy, privacy, harassment, discrimination, children and vulnerable individuals, and public interest reporting.

Accuracy and Corrections Policy

We take every reasonable step to ensure all factual information published on Best of Manchester is accurate, truthful, and properly verified prior to publication.

  • Prompt Corrections: When an inaccuracy, factual error, or significant distortion is identified, we will correct it promptly and with due prominence.

  • Clarity of Changes: Where an article is amended after publication to correct a material error, an editor’s note will be appended at the top or bottom of the article specifying the date of the change and the nature of the correction.

  • Minor Typographical Errors: Minor spelling, typographical, or formatting updates that do not alter the substantive meaning or factual accuracy of a piece may be corrected without an explicit editor's note.

  • Corrections Log: We maintain an internal record of all substantive corrections and amendments.

Record of corrections: We publish a list of all articles amended to correct a significant inaccuracy over a rolling 12-month period. See our corrections list.
