Four men have been released on bail and a fifth released under investigation after five men were arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Salford, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has said. No one has been charged.
Officers were called to a property on Great Clowes Street in Lower Broughton at around 7.50pm on Tuesday 6 October, where they found a man in his 40s unresponsive. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died a short time later.
Five men aged between 24 and 35 were arrested on suspicion of murder. In an update on Friday evening (9 October), GMP said four had been bailed and one released under investigation, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The man has been named by his family and friends, in a tribute reported by the Manchester Evening News, as 44-year-old Mohamed Omar. His family described him as a devoted father who was "working hard to build a better future for the people he loved". Police have not formally named him.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Partington said: "Our priority is to establish exactly what happened and we are keeping an open mind as we work to build a full picture of the events leading up to his death. A post-mortem is taking place to establish the cause of death, which will be an important part of our investigation."
He added that police were confident "there isn't any wider threat to the public".
Anyone with information is asked to contact GMP on 101 or via LiveChat on the GMP website, or to contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
